As any informed engineer, architect or contractor will tell you, wide plank wood floors that are to be installed above underfloor (radiant) heating must be exceptionally well engineered. Solid non-engineered wood will exhibit deficiencies such as large gaps between the planks, cupping and warping. The finest engineered wood available today is supplied and installed by Element 7. Its thermal properties and complete stability are fully compatible with underfloor heating. Though some companies will float a wood floor above under-floor heating systems, we will always bond our wood floors to the sub-floor where possible. As underfloor heating systems manufacturers will confirm, the best heat transfer comes through wood floors that are bonded to the sub-floor. Air gaps, however small, as with double-glazing, inhibit heat transfer. Our wide planks have been tried and tested with underfloor heating systems for over 30 years throughout Continental Europe and in Britain. Element 7, without doubt, leads the market in this field. Prior to installation commencing the underfloor heating system must be correctly cycled. |
